  • Project/Program Management

I began my career as a Legal Assistant in a non-profit organization. Within a year I accepted a new role interviewing clients and determining their eligibility for service. In managing a high case load of vulnerable individuals I developed skills in several areas including: effective interviewing techniques, timely and accurate decision making and problem solving abilities, conflict resolution and crisis management techniques, time management and prioritization skills, mechanisms to manage stress and team building and support skills.

I believe in constant continued learning and development and within a few years began seeking out further challenges. I was approached to join a project team that was tasked with mapping the organization's processes and procedures and making recommendations for change. This began my project management experience and after two further projects, including mediation services and the implementation of a new service delivery model, I accepted a management position.

As Manager I was responsible for day-to-day operations including contact centre management, budget, individual & business unit metrics & KPIs, client service, office & facilities management, training and performance, recruitment and retention, policy & procedure development and internal project & program management. It was a very busy role in an often chaotic work environment but I enjoyed the daily challenge and the learning growth.

After a few years I accepted the position of Acting Director. As Acting Director I was responsible for oversite of the business area including more strategic involvement in operations and the direction of the business unit. I worked with the Executive management team and in addition was responsible for managing partner and stakeholder relations, external projects/programs and internal and external committee work.

I have a Bachelor of Applied Justice Studies from Mount Royal University and to compliment my management and strategic planning experience I have certification in Pillars of Management and Strategic Management, both from Mount Royal University.
